Premio-musicAstor-2015

The “Premio MusicAstor due sponde” is a prize dedicated to the Argentinian master Astor Piazzolla. This First Awards Ceremony saw the Prize go to Lionello Puppi.

The “Premio MusicAstor due sponde” celebrates an important page in the story of Italian Emigration. It was discovered in 2012, that Astor Piazzolla’s grandparents emigrated from the Garfagnana region in the Province of Lucca, to Mar del Plata, Argentina. The discovery of Piazzolla’s Italian roots was the product of research by Ofelia Lachner della Casa LatinoAmericana, and the Fondazione Cresci.

The design of the Prize is a sculpture by Silvina Spravkin, Argentinian artist who lives and works in Pietrasanta, Italy.
